Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Introduction
NetDevOps Micro-Tools ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit netdevops.thebackroom.ai, use the tools app at netdevops-tools.thebackroom.ai, or contact us, why we collect it, and what rights you have.
This policy is written with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Union and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents in mind.
Who We Are
NetDevOps Micro-Tools is run by an individual, Przemysław Snowacki, who is the controller of your personal data. You can reach him about anything in this policy at [email protected].
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We collect information that you voluntarily provide when you:
- Unlock the beta tools: your email address (stored in MailerLite).
- Subscribe to our mailing list: your email address (stored in MailerLite).
- Send feedback with the feedback button: your message, your email address if you choose to add it, the address of the page you were on and the page that referred you (without query string), your browser type, how far you scrolled and how long you were on the page.
- Contact us by email: your name, email address and anything you include in your message.
Beta Tester Record
Beta tester record. If you unlock the beta tools with your email, we record the date you first and last ran a tool, linked to your email address in MailerLite. We never record the configurations or any other data you enter into the tools. We use this record only to recognise active beta testers and to keep the free access we promised them after the beta. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping that promise (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Unsubscribing from our emails does not delete this record. We keep it until 90 days after the beta ends, or for as long as you keep free tester access if you claim it. You can object or ask us to delete it at any time by writing to [email protected]; we will then no longer be able to recognise you as a tester.
What You Enter Into the Tools
Configurations, show command output and other text you paste into the tools are sent to our app server only to produce the result you asked for. They are processed in memory for that request and are not written to our storage or logs. For vulnerability lookups the app queries public sources (Cisco and NVD) with the platform, software version or advisory ID involved; no configuration text and no personal data is sent to them.
Device profiles. Saving device profiles on our server is turned off during the beta. The app only offers a few read-only demo profiles with fictitious values, so nothing you type into a profile is stored on our server.
Automatically Collected Information
On the home page of netdevops.thebackroom.ai we use Google Analytics 4 only if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner (cookies _ga and _ga_*). Until you accept, Google Analytics is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie Settings" at the bottom of the home page. Our blog pages and the tools app do not use analytics cookies.
Our servers and hosting providers log technical request data (IP address, page requested, time, browser type) for security and rate limiting. For rate limiting, the tools app keeps your IP address and the times of your requests in memory for up to about an hour after your last request and never writes them to disk. When the app logs a rate limit hit, the IP address is hashed.
Local Storage in Your Browser
Our pages store a few items in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are strictly necessary for features you ask for, so no consent is needed. You can clear them in your browser at any time.
- Your theme choice (light or dark) and your cookie choice.
- In the tools app: your email address, the unlock flag and a beta token, so the tools stay unlocked and we can recognise you as a tester; your last form inputs and generated configs, so you do not have to retype them (these can include passwords or keys you typed into a generator, so clear your browser storage on a shared computer); and small preferences such as quick access tiles and KEV Watch filters.
- For the feedback button: when you last closed the feedback popup, so it does not keep appearing.
How We Use Your Information and Legal Bases
- Beta updates and newsletter emails: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Beta tester record: our legitimate interest in keeping the free access we promised testers (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Reading and replying to feedback and emails: our legitimate interest in improving the tools and answering you (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Google Analytics on the home page: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given in the cookie banner.
- Security and rate limiting: our legitimate interest in keeping the service available and safe (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Legal obligations: where the law requires us to keep or disclose data (Art. 6(1)(c)).
Third-Party Services (Processors)
We use the following providers to run the service. They process personal data on our behalf.
MailerLite
Stores our email list and the beta tester record. Privacy policy: mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Google Analytics
Home page of netdevops.thebackroom.ai only, and only after you accept analytics cookies. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Google (Gmail)
Hosts our internal Gmail inbox, which receives system notifications and some email that our own system processes (see Amazon Web Services below). We do not use it to email beta testers or subscribers. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Amazon Web Services
Stores feedback sent with the feedback button and a notification of each sign-up or unsubscribe (including your email address), and sends us notifications about them. Feedback and these notifications are categorised and summarised automatically by an AI model on Amazon Bedrock. AWS does not use it to train models or share it with the model provider, and may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse. Emails that reach our Gmail inbox are also stored on AWS and categorised by the same AI model, so we can prioritise replies. Privacy notice: aws.amazon.com/privacy.
Telegram
When feedback or a sign-up event needs our attention, we receive a short alert in Telegram that says only what came in and where from (for example, new feedback from the website). The alert does not include the message text or your email address; we read the details only in our own systems. Privacy policy: telegram.org/privacy.
Render
Hosts the tools app in the United States. Privacy policy: render.com/privacy.
Cloudflare
Hosts this website, protects our domains from abuse and forwards email sent to [email protected] to our mailbox at Proton. Privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Proton
Hosts the mailbox that receives email sent to [email protected]. Privacy policy: proton.me/legal/privacy.
Data Retention
- Email addresses: in MailerLite until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Copies in our sign-up and unsubscribe notifications on AWS are deleted automatically after 12 months.
- Beta tester record: until 90 days after the beta ends, or for as long as you keep free tester access if you claim it (see "Beta Tester Record" above).
- Feedback: deleted automatically 12 months after we receive it. You can ask us to delete yours earlier at any time.
- Emails you send us: up to 2 years, to keep our correspondence history. Our records of who wrote to us are deleted automatically after the same period.
- Google Analytics data: 2 months.
- Server logs: logs of our notification and email systems on AWS are deleted automatically after 7 days. Other server logs are kept for the period set by our hosting providers.
